An Arctic chill is still in the air, but the arrival of March brings with it the anticipation of Spring! But before we usher in a new season, there are many days in March to welcome first~
Mardi Gras, or Fat Tuesday, on March 4th and Ash Wednesday on March 5th begin the observance of the Lenten season for Catholics; Daylight Savings Time reminds us that the days will soon be longer beginning Sunday, March 9th. On Monday, March 17th, the Irish (and those who wish they were Irish) of the world unite to celebrate the life of St. Patrick. And finally, on Thursday, March 20th, the long anticipated arrival of Spring will be here! We will say good bye to the frigid temperatures, winter coats, and bare trees and will welcome warmer sunny days, lighter layers, and daffodils and tulips gently lining walkways. We will leave the confines of our homes to enjoy the dawn of a new season with relaxing walks and light yard work.
It has been a very long winter with bitterly cold temperatures and a seemingly endless number of snow storms. Here’s to a new month with many days to celebrate and longer, warmer daylight hours to make it happen!
